CaroTrans Expands Asia Import Service Network
– Direct, weekly Shanghai to Seattle service starts April 12th –
Clark, New Jersey, March 16, 2015 – CaroTrans, a leading global NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier) and ocean freight consolidator, today introduces a new Shanghai import service to Seattle and Portland in the Pacific Northwest. This direct service bypasses Southern California port congestion.
Tracking time sensitive imports is a critical component of maintaining the integrity of supply chains. CaroTrans enables shippers to easily track shipments online or via EDI and provides a Web-based tool, Online Freight Release, which accelerates inbound cargo delivery.
CaroTrans also offers direct LCL services from Qingdao and Busan to Seattle to support import trade volumes into the region. In 2014, the Port of Seattle was the 4th largest U.S. port based on TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) (Port of Seattle). China, Japan and South Korea are the Port’s top 3 import trade partners (Foreign Waterborne Trade Report – 2013, U.S. Maritime Administration). Local CaroTrans teams are located at origin and destination to provide dedicated support to customers in each area.
“As a global transportation provider, we must respond quickly to the needs of the marketplace. Whether it’s new, direct services or easy-to-use IT solutions that expedite cargo moves. May 2012 we opened our dedicated CaroTrans Seattle office to deliver local support to customers in this important trade area. In today’s marketplace, we work to provide gateway alternatives that support the smooth flow of freight,” said Greg Howard, CEO of CaroTrans.
Established in 1979, CaroTrans International is one of the world’s leading NVOCCs providing global LCL, less-than-container load, and FCL, full container load services. CaroTrans has a network of offices in Asia, Europe, South America, Oceania, and the United States, along with strong local partners, to offer a global reach that is truly unique.
The CaroTrans suite of Web-based and EDI-enabled e-commerce tools include – booking, ocean and inland rates, sailing schedules, and tracking. They are an essential part of CaroTrans’ commitment to delivering faster, more efficient freight management solutions. For import shipments, CaroTrans Online Freight Release solution provides logistics service providers with direct control of the release of their customers’ cargo.
