China Hazardous Cargo Restrictions since Tianjin Warehouse Explosion

Dear Valued Customer,

The devastating explosion early August at a warehouse for hazardous materials in the port city of Tianjin has disrupted Transpacific shipments.  New hazardous material restrictions and greater cargo scrutiny is being implemented and you can expect delays and a tighter, less accessible market situation.  CaroTrans is proactively monitoring this situation and will keep you informed of events that will impact your customers’ supply chains.

Currently, Hong Kong has not changed its handling policies for imports to Hong Kong, but has informed us of possible delays and restrictions to various on-carriage points that could impact freight there or currently on the water.

Shanghai is handling hazardous material shipments. There is the likelihood that there will be increased inspections and delays.

All other China ports are restricting the movement of hazardous materials.

We will work to minimize supply chain disruptions and update you as new developments occur.  If you have any questions, please contact your CaroTrans sales representative.

Best regards,

CaroTrans
